Initiation of Bro. Mathew Burt

At our first meeting of the new year, Worshipful Master Chris Brooke had the pleasure in initiating Bro. Mathew Burt, who was ably escorted by Junior Deacon, W. Bro Peter Kuzemka along with Senior Deacon Bro. Neil Sunderland. Mathew had previously attended our membership in June last year. Once the WM had Obligated the Candidate, W. Bro Tony Cooper entrusted him with the Secrets. Following Bro. Mathew being invested with his apron, W. Bro Chris James explained the significance of the North-East Corner and tested Bro Mathew’s disposition towards Charity. After which the Working Tools were presented faultlessly by Bro. Neil. Once Bro. Mathew had been restored to his ‘personal comforts’, ‘The Charge’ was given by W. Bro Adrian Moore in his usual impeccable manner.

A lively Festive Board of a Burns Night Supper that was enjoyed by all. Bro. James Jefferies, as his Proposer, gave to Toast to his long standing friend Bro Mathew. He mentioned that as both are in the building trade they refer themselves as ‘Operative Masons’, Then Bro. Neil explained ‘The Fire’ to Bro. Mathew. The Toast to the Visitors was in the capable hands of Membership Officer, W. Bro Jerry Hann, and as we had a large contingent of visitors from Kenneth Kinnersley Lodge it was only proper that KK member W. Bro Robin Browning responded on their behalf, and in so doing complemented the ceremony.

Notwithstanding the Christmas and New Year Festivities, suits and regalia aprons did not appear to be too tight. No doubt some adjustments had been made during the intervening few weeks. As someone remarked, at least his tie fitted.
