Lodge of Instruction

Our Lodge of Instruction (L o I) is usually held on the 1st Wednesday of the month (emergencies excepted), from September through to May.

We meet on an informal basis and practise the various rituals so that at our ‘actual’ meetings we feel confident and well rehearsed. There are always experienced Brethren there to guide and instruct the newer Brethren as necessary.

The purpose of the Lodge of Instruction is to provide an opportunity for the newer brethren to become conversant in the ritual and symbolism of  Freemasonry, and to generally gain a wider understanding of Freemasonry. It also provides an opportunity to practise the rituals, or parts thereof, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, if necessary reading from the book. The meetings are usually overseen by the Preceptor (another word for tutor) who is an experienced member of the Lodge.
