Midsomer Norton Scout Group
Before Christmas, the Scout Group had their equipment trailer stolen including all the contents. The trailer is used when they attend fundraising events or go camping and other similar activities. To purchase a replacement trailer, fit it with an awning for use in wet weather and purchase the necessary equipment was estimated to cost £5,000. They have received £3,500 from their insurers, leaving them with a £1,500 shortfall.

Consequently, Connaught Lodge and Chapter each agreed to donate £500. A further £500 from the Provincial Support Funding has been paid direct into their bank account. Thus, the overall £1,500 will cover the Scout’s financial deficit. Prior to the Lodge meeting on Wednesday 19 March, Scout Group Lead Volunteer Caryl Pugh and Nick Lake, Explorer Scout Leader were presented with a cheque for £1,000 by W. Bro Chris James, Connaught Lodge Charity Steward and E. Comp Peter Kuzemka representing Connaught Chapter, to enable them to go ahead and purchase the trailer and equipment. Once the trailer has been received and kitted out, a social evening will be organised at the Masonic Hall where it will be displayed for all to see.
